Labour day treats : A night stay in Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur

So I got a wedding gift from my company, a RM500 worth of Hotel Maya vouchers. Hotel Maya, my company's development.

Vouchers had been in my possession since early March 2013 but got to finally utilized it yesterday. I was so excited..

So it's either dine in or a night's stay. Me and hubs decided to stay. We thought it would be a perfect idea, as it also included with a buffet breakfast for 2, so in a way, it's already a complete package.

Turns out to be an awesome decision!

I had scrambled eggs, frankfurters, smoked fish, mashed potatoes, and a bit of malaysian fried noodle. Of course, they were delicious.

Upon check out at the counter, the receptionist informed us the best news! We had 1 excess coupon as the total stay was only RM399. So, we had an ala-carte lunch. I had Beriyani Tandoori & ice kacang while my husband had spaghetti bologna. Nyums!

It was such a sweet memory. At night, we went for a dinner at KLCC, walking hand in hand.

Thanks SDB for this wonderful treats!

Hadramawt Restaurant Part 2

So yesterday evening I was all excited to cook 'Ikan Siakap 3 rasa' for hubby that I even post it in my Facebook status. But unfortunately the excited wife went back home after work yesterday & found out that there was no water supply in the neighborhood. Damn!

I knew right away, there was no hope for cooking. So, what this brilliant wife did was SMS to her hubby & asked him to bring her out for a dinner. And the generous hubby came up with an idea, 'a second episode of Hadramawt'.

Being a food lover person, you guess what was my reaction to that? Yes, I jumped up and down and did the hula dancing in my living room.

So, this time we didn't want to make another mistake of end up in a wrong Hadramawt restaurant. As you all know, there are a few Hadramawt restaurants in KL & the last time we went there was at the 'Jalan Bukit Bintang' outlet, which was not as good as the one we dined in yesterday.

It was located in Jalan Ampang, next to Risda building, opposite of Lorenzo. This was the one hubby went to with his colleagues and the first time he tasted and fell in love with Hadramawt food. And again I have to mention, they are way tastier than the previous one.

The front view of the restaurant.
Someone was so hungry he left his wife behind.

I don't know what's with that face. Maybe the expression that he's gonna get bankrupt having an eating machine as a wife.
This proves me right.
This is opposite of Lorenzo
This is the view of the top floor
This time, the people sitting in front of us were well behaved and we had a peace dinner.
Never to miss! The Arabian mint tea
Because his wife is an eating machine, she forgot to snap the photos before scarfing down the food. And this was the best she could get before everything cleans. The wife had a Lamb Kebab plate (again) and the hubby had a Lamb Haneeth (Lamb with rice, again).

Total bill was RM71.90, and giving a glance at my hubby, I smiled triumphantly. (Hubby, I will give you a treat next time!)

Hadramawt Palace at Jalan Bukit Bintang (Arabian Food Terbaikk!!)

Haiyo! Semalam ada dinner date dengan hubby dekat Hadramawt Palace, Jalan Bukit Bintang. Sangat sedap okay! They serve 100% Arabian food here, 2 thumbs up! Alhamdulillah ada rezeki nak makan luar. Asek2 masak kat rumah je kan? ;-)

Saje lah nak share ngan kawan2 mana tahu you all nak try.

So gambar restoren tu dari luar:-

Ni lah restoren tu. Terletak just berdepan dengan Prince Court Hospital, Jalan Bukit Bintang. You all boleh pergi ke website nya di "http://www.hadramawtpalace.com/" dan find out all the infos. Kalau takut sesat, view the map here. Actually me & Hubby pun sesat semalam, we wanted to go here but ended up in Al-Rawsha restaurant nearby to Desa Pandan road towards Time Square. Penat patah balik, hehehehe...

This was hubby's menu, which is called "Lamb Kabsa". Rasa nasi nya sangat sedap (bentuk nya panjang2, I guess ni lah dipanggil nasi bukhari, though Im not too sure) tapi lamb jenis yang hubby pilih ni kurang sikit sbb it's boiled & I x suka boiled. Untuk menu hubby harga nya around RM20+. My choice was "Lamb Mandy" - iaitu nasi & lamb juga but it's grilled - Kambing Bakar. Nyums... Dan harga lebih kurang sama dengan menu hubby. Marks? 7 Out of 10! For drinks, hubby ordered arab tea, while I had a mango juice. Harga tak pasti untuk tea but my mango juice RM8. Dua2 terbaik but its tea?Beyond marvelous. Ada rasa pudina sikit, hmmm, refreshing ;-) (Sorry, Im pathetic in describing food, u all kena pergi rasa sendiri ya!)
Yang ni Lamb Kebab. Kami mmg gila kambing pada malam tu. Hahaha... This one is superb, 10 out of 10 Marks = Full Marks ler!!! :D Makan dengan roti macam roti canai but way delicious and big. Kalau pergi lagi I will order this one again. Superb. Harga tak ingat, sorry kawan2. Sedap sgt tak amek port dah pasal harga :-P
The inside of the restaurant, and this is the view from our table. Family yang duduk depan kitaorang ni seriously bising. Macam zoo dah dibuatnya :-P Tak aman orang nak makan!! Hmmm...
And this is the face of a happy wife ^______^

CB Frozen Food "Heaven" in Bandar Baru Ampang ^_____^

A colleague from work told me there is a shop in Bandar Baru Ampang selling frozen foods with an affordable & low prices. The way she described it, it sounded too good to be true. So I decided to have a look at the shop myself.

Yesterday after work, since my husband was on his night shift, I went straight to the shop. And I tell you what? It is the heaven on earth.

So my colleague is right after all. I was very excited! The one which I got at 5 bucks in other places, is only cost me 3 bucks here. Look how cheap is that. Quite a big difference.

They are selling frozen foods such as nuggets, frankfurters, burgers, steamboats, chickens, beefs, prawns, oysters, steaks and much more. Apart from that, there are also other groceries stuffs such as Ketchup, Chili SOS, noodles etc.

First of all the Ramly burger product is way cheaper than other shops. Earlier this week I bought a Ramly chicken burger from my house's convenience store and it costed me RM5.50. Over here in CB, I got the same thing at RM3.00. It contains only 6 pieces. Don't you think it's very expensive to charge it at RM5.50? Unlike last time, it was around RM5 plus too but there was 10 pieces. Apparently there's no one to monitor the issue.
Then I got myself a 1KG huge Ramly Tempura nuggets at RM10.50. Which I believe is much more cheaper than the market price, although Im not sure cheaper by how much.

And last but not least, I bought this very tasty Ramly chicken frankfurters at RM 9.50

Yes, it's the big one, the 1000gm's. I think it's about 40 pieces but Im not too sure.

Wait, if you are not a Ramly fans, there are other brands as well, dont worry :-) There's this "Jimat" brand which is very cheap & much more affordable than Ramly, their frankfurters cost only RM2.20 per packet of about 10 pieces. This brand have other types of frozen food as well.

Or you might wanna try their very own "CB" brand...

Urmm.. I think I will too, but I am a Ramly lover ;-)

Don't forget to check out the store, it's located just nearby the RHB bank of Bandar Baru Ampang!

Nursery@Sungai Buloh

Last Friday was a public holiday in lieu of Federal Territory Day. My husband and I were both off from work & we decided to spend some quality time together. We went out from the house as early as 9am & headed to Sungai Buloh.

There are tons of nurseries in this particular area in Sungai Buloh & we planned to buy some plants & pots for our little garden at home. I was so excited, anything that includes spending time with hubby is the thing I look forward to the most.

So, we began our journey with a breakfast at Bukit Indah Food Corner, my all-time favorite Mamak's restaurant. I had a Murtabak Ayam while my hubby with his usual dish, Cappati. They served the best roti canai in Bukit Indah, my childhood neighbourhood.

After breakfast, my hubby went straight to Sungai Buloh. It was about 30 minutes drive & we finally reached the famous nursery area. It was my first time here. But for hubby, his parents had brought him here several times.

This place is famously known even to the foreigners. I even saw them while I was there. In fact, this place was mentioned in Kosmo! newspaper and The Star

I was ecstatic! Women and flowers cannot be separated, and if women are responsive to the sensual, then flowers are the perfect drugs. I was so thrilled to see all those beautiful plants and flowers all over the places. There was not one, but too many nurseries along the roadside.

I brought our camera along & managed to snap an ample amount of photos to share in my blog.

There were lots of widely-known flowers from different species such as Orchids, Roses, Sunflowers and Chrysanthemum. Some of the photos I snapped:-

Assorted flowers
Yeap Nursery
Series of Roses
The unique Pitcher Plant
Purple Orchids
Chrysanthemum flowers
Sunflower
Seriously out of clue what these are
Red and yellow roses
No idea .... Mmmm... Saw bunch of these in IKEA store too
Not sure....

I fell in love with the cactus species. Most of the cactus I've seen in my whole life were green color but over here I saw some yellow, pink and red 'plants' on top of the cactus. Were they flowers? Could they produce flowers, I don't really know...Mmm? The assorted colors thingy were looking just like flowers. So I bought 2 of them which were red & pink. It cost RM5 per/pcs.

Mmm.. Gorgeous right?

My hubby was really into Bonsai species. So he got one of those for himself, which cost me RM30 but it is so gorgeous I don't really mind the price. We got some pots for those plants & some soils. With all those purchase, we went back satisfied and happy :-)

Besides Flowers, I saw some veggies too!
Tomatoes
Capsicum
After the nursery activity, we went straight to Pavilion KL & my hubby gave me a surprised treat-a purse! Oh I just love it so much! It was from Fossil, my favorite brand & it matched my Fossil's watch :-) Oh hubby, love you!! ^_^

Tired of the day's outing, we went for lunch at the food court. Those were my treats for hubby, a lunch set of BBQ chicken rice with wantan for 2 :-) They were gorgeous <3

After Pavilion, we went to IKEA in Damansara. Wow, so much of activities in 1 day! In IKEA, we got ourselves a shoe rack, a bedside table for our bedroom & a steel rack for our 'little garden'. We were both so happy & planned to return back to IKEA on this CNY to purchase a dining table as now we are still sitting down on the floor during meal time. So, I just can't wait! <3

Laksa Johor Special buatan mama

In my post this time, I would like to share with you about Laksa Johor. Have you ever taste one before? Well, my mom is having a small business in selling this Laksa Johor. So, whether you haven't yet or have already, you can try my mom's cooking.

I personally think hers are the best, not because she is my mom, no. It simply because of the taste itself. She is so generous in terms of ingredients, it makes her gravy very thick & tasty. Unlike most Laksa Johor I tasted before which gravies were either very oily, watery or tasteless.

Inherited her talent from my late grandma who was also a Johorean, her Laksa Johor always being praised by many of her Johoreans friends. After she turned 52, she felt so tired to work in office & retired. She then discovered her 'rezeki' in small business & started to make Laksa Johor & is doing fine nowadays. As a daughter, I feel it is my responsibility to do my part, which is to help mom in promoting her Laksa Johor. Hehe ^_^

Ok before I go further, which I believe I had done so (hehe), let me write a bit introduction on Laksa Johor if some of you have still never heard of this Malaysian Cuisine.

"Johor laksa (Malay: Laksa Johor), from Johor state in southern Malaysia, resembles Penang laksa only in the kind of fish used but differs in everything else. Johor laksa has coconut milk, use kerisik, dried prawns, lemon grass, galangal and spices akin to curry. The garnishing comprises slices of onion, beansprouts (taugeh), mint leaves, Vietnamese coriander or 'daun kesum', cucumber and pickled white radish. Sambal belacan (a kind of chili paste) is placed on the side. Finally, just before eating, freshly squeezed lime juice is sprinkled on the dish. Unique to Johor laksa is its Italian connection – spaghetti is used instead of the normal rice noodles or vermicelli. Johor laksa is traditionally eaten using the hand and the noodles are usually knitted (cetak) into a disk for each serving."

Sources: Wikipedia Laksa

Ok, as mentioned above, it is eaten using the hand, so don't go using fork & spoon or chop sticks, as it wont deliver much 'feel' to you. Hahaha..

So here's the shot.

This one was prepared by Mom for customer's order which were 50 packets of Laksa Johor. Using Ikan Tenggiri in making the gravy, she charges her Laksa Johor @ RM6 per packet. Ikan Tenggiri are costly compared to most gravy which uses Ikan Sardin or Ikan Kembung. Using Ikan Tenggiri will make the gravy thick & tasty.

The finish product which is ready to eat. Sambal Belacan, Air Limau, Jeruk Lobak, Timun & Bawang are combine together & mix with the Spaghetti for maximum taste. My mom is from Johor & her Laksa Johor is adopted from its state of origin, Johor Darul Takzim.

Apart from making Laksa Johor, mom also sells Mee Rebus @ RM4.50 per packet. She adopted Johorean/Jawa Style in making her Mee Rebus. Absolutely delicious!

I bet you are already drooling by now. So am I. ^_^

Pusat Akuatik Kompleks Sukan Negara Bukit Jalil

Last Monday was a public holiday in lieu of Thaipusam celebration. Me & my hubby didn't have any plans for the day. Earlier that morning I had just completed a 3 consecutive days of massage treatment (due to the miscarriage) & had taken some sleep for a few hours to rest my whole body, til it was about 4pm.

At 5pm, we felt so boring just spending the day at home & we finally made plans with my family-in-laws to go for a swimming spree at Pusat Akuatik Kompleks Sukan Negara, Bukit Jalil. I was not allowed to join the activity due to my health condition but I was there watching them swimming like a bunch of kids. It looked really exciting! I was a bit frustrated not having the chance to experience swimming in that olympic pool :-( Can't wait to go back and have my turn!

The entrance fee was only RM5 per person-only applicable to those who wish to swim, and the rest who will just be watching, it's absolutely free of charge. Only swimming trunks & swimming suits are allowed, and swimming trunks for men are rented out at RM5 per piece.

Me & my mother-in-law are planning to buy a muslimah swimming suit. At about 6.30 pm they finally finished swimming and we went to Alpha Angel Shopping Mall @ Wangsa Maju to survey some muslimah swimming suits. They were so expensive! Almost RM300 per piece. So we went back & had dinner. We planned to survey at other places or perhaps via online later.

So here are the photos taken during the day ;-)

Look at my hubby. With the "peace" sign... Oh, so childish.. He was so excited with the swimming spree, just like a kid. Cute boy.....
