American Idol 2013 - Winner! Winner! Winner!!!!!

This week, the 2 remaining AI contestants Candice & Kree are battling up to win the idol title this season.

I watched the show last night and it wasn't that exciting, except for Kree's performance of "Angel" by Sarah Mclachlan (chosen by Simon Fuller, the AI's creator) & Candice's performance of "I who have nothing" by Tom Jones.

I thought both of the songs were beautifully sang by them & I was in fact so captivated. Especially the Angel song. It's actually my all-time favorite song from my childhood favorite singer, Sarah Mclachlan. Back when I was a teenager, I listen to Sarah's, Jewel's and Natalie Imbruglia's. That's actually one of my favorite song in fact. Although that wasn't anywhere near as good as Sarah, but that was still good all the same. Randy Jackson disagreed with Simon's choice of song though. Oh and I forgot to mention anywhere in my post, Randy is leaving AI and this will be his last season. So sad... AI without Randy is different! He's been there all along. I will miss him.....

She look stunning in this white dress, and singing this soul music, awhhh I am so inspired!

And this is what we call powerful vocal... A fantastic rendition of Tom Jones's song. I absolutely trust her in this.

Today the result is out (although I only got to watch the live show on TV tonight), and the winner of American Idol 2013 is .................................

CANDICE GLOVER!!!!!!!!!
(I'm right this time, and oh I'm soooo HapPy!!!!)

She deserves this so much ... I'll update on tonight's show later, hang in there! :-)

Oh my God!!! Angie Miller was eliminated!!!

Omg :'( Angie was eliminated from AI.

I couldn't bear the suspense & looked up the result in AI's site & got to know that Kree & Candice are going to the final. I cried so much, I just can't believe she's not even going to the final.

Omg.............. I just don't know what to say, I'm full of so much despair.

Watch her elimination video:-

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xzqcxq_top-3-results-american-idol-2013_music

And the AI dies today in my heart. Although I'm proud of Candice and I know she will win this.

American Idol ~ Jimmy's, Judges's & Producer's Choice

Finally, the semifinal has arrived! Being in the top 3, Candice, Angie & Kree had to compete with each other to see who's going through to the grand finale. I am so excited for the result today! I can't hardly keep the suspense! Oh it's another 9 hours to go~~

Who's going home? I am expecting Kree to be eliminated tonight. I mean, I love her talent and all but I strongly believe Candice will go further in this field. Angie to me has already win, and I know she will, for real. Oh I just can't wait for it to happen!!

The show last night was awesome but I'd missed the ending part of it. I went to bed early last night, although I slept much later. So anyway, they were given 3 songs, chosen by Jimmy, Judges & the AI producer.

But this time around I'm just gonna update about my winner, Angie Miller. Sorry! Not gonna update about Candice & Kree here, as I am now too excited for Angie Miller!!!! U guys can find out the updates everywhere on the net! ;)

Jimmy chose Elton John's song "Sorry to be the hardest word" for Angie Miller. It was spectacular. I love this song so much ever since I was a kid & I love Angie's rendition too. This song is so emotional and being me, I cried alright. But the judges thought Angie didn't really manage to deliver as much emotion as they expected her to bring through this song. I kinda agree with them in a way, I thought Angie should trust her voice's lower register.

For the second round, the judges gave her a song from Pink,  "Try". This was again a spectacular performance of hers, although I disagree with Mariah who said this was her best performance of the whole season. I still think her original song "You Set Me Free" was the best.

I didn't watch her 3rd performance though, I don't know what song she sang for the 3rd round. But I read the updates on the net, luckily I never heard that song & I'm not excited to hear it. Although I heard she played the piano on this 3rd round. Whatever it is, I'm gonna make sure I watch every bit of her in the final next week!

Her homecoming video was cool, I cried when she cried at the end of the video. It was very inspirational to watch someone ordinary be where she is now, from being nothing.

So tonight is the elimination night, Root for ANGIE!!

American Idol 2013 - Top 3

4 days had passed since the result was out in Malaysia. Due to the government election 13 event in my country, again I didn't managed to update it on time.

Last Friday I managed to catch the 6pm show. And to make it short, Amber was the one eliminated that night.

I was quite sad but I did expected it, I know good people will usually go. Despite everything that I had said about Kree, she goes through & still wins America's heart. She is undeniably good but I want Angie to win for her music diversity.

I just can't wait for this season to be over, phew! It's been a long one! And anyone couldnt keep excited this long, i'm starting to get sick of it, but i hope noone will get sick reading my updates! Haha. Check out my next entry, till then..

American Idol 2013 - Top 4 Performance Recap

Yesterday evening I watched the 6 pm show but I didn't managed to  finish it. Besides not being that exciting, I was planning to put myself to sleep early that night (I wasn't feeling well).

So anyway, the producer invited Harry Connick Jr. as the contestants mentor this week. I thought he looked so familiar, and at first I thought he was the one starred in The Journey to the center of the earth but when Branden Fraser appeared during my googling attempt, I know I was wrong. Up to this moment I don't have any idea where I came across seeing that familiar look. But I'm sure it was from a movie.

By the way, I missed the themes. Not sure what themes they had this week but I was kinda okay with them; not another boring night.

Angie sang her own rendition of "Diamonds" by Rihanna & it wasn't new to me as I had watched the same performance on her Youtube channel before she joined American Idol. What I know for sure, the performance in that video was way better than last night's. It works better with her band. The 2nd performance was better. She sang her mom's favorite song & she delivered it beautifully. The judges thought the same too.

Candice chose the hit song from Bruno Mars, "When I was your man". I thought it was weird for a woman to sang this song but she made it work. Although I think no one could sing this song as captivating as Bruno Mars. I didn't watch her 2nd performance. But I personally thought the 1st one was the best of the week.

Kree again didn't managed to attract my attention. I was feeling bored with her song choices. Maybe she could pull it off by singing hit songs from Shania Twain or Trisha Yearwood, some songs which are more familiar and lovable to the ears but still within the country category. I'm not rooting for her to stay this time around.

Amber chose a song from Pink  which title I'm not really sure of but it was just okay. I didn't watch the second performance. Between her & Kree, I'd rather she be the one to stay and continue with the competition. At least that's what I thought but it's up to America.

The contestants are so caught up with the finale stress & they were very tense. I just can't wait for this season to be over and finally Angie to be crowned as the winner.

P/s: 5 days later I discovered I saw Harry Connick Jr in 'P/S I Love You!!' That puts a stop in my wondering thought.

American Idol 2013 - "Personal Taste" & "One Hit Wonder" and the Elimination result

I'm late in updating the news! It's been 4 days since the last show, but I'm only free to write about it today. Too bad.. I believe all of u has seen the show & aware of the result.

But to those of u who still haven't got a clue, let's read my blog! :-)

On the performance night, as usual there were 2 songs chosen by each contestants and the theme were personal taste (choose any song on their own) & one hit wonder (hit songs).

Ok, I was fully satisfied with the themes & I expected that night I would be hearing familiar songs, which means 'not a boring night' and yes, I did and I was so glad.

Amber started off the night by singing 'The Power of Love' by Celine Dion & I thought that was a brilliant choice of song. I felt like the song was tailored-made for her. I am so proud of this girl, unlike other contestants (especially Kree), she's the only person showing more & more progress each week. I thought this performance was a diva-like performance & definitely deserves all the good comments received from the judges.

Candice sang Drake’s “Find Your Love” and then the Bee Gee’s “Emotions.” To be frank with u, I didn't watch the Drake's performance, and while she sang "Emotions", I was in the shower, but I heard her. She was awesome (like always) but it didn't really trigger my excitement button.

Before I begin to mention about Kree, first of all sorry to all Kree's fan. I love her voice so much and she is such a natural-born singer,
but I don't agree if she wins. After idol, I bet she will make millions of money selling off her amazing records and albums. But to win idol, I don't know, I don't think she's the one. Every week she sticks to her country songs & I can't help feeling so boring. Surprisingly, despite my point of view, she was in the top 2. I totally agree with Nicki Minaj when she said that Kree's spark is fading a bit. Kree is just doing the thing she normally does & there's nothing extra about her.

My favourite Angie Miller really wowed me and all the judges tonight. She sang Jessie J's song "Who you are" with her piano & Julie London's "Cry me a river" & both performances were awesome. She has the star quality I'm looking for & I strongly believe she's the one to win.

Jessie J's "Who you are". Like Nicki said, she heard many renditions of this song but Angie's was phenomenal.

But what I got to shout out and give my BIG mention here was the performance of Angie & Candice, singing a song from Rihanna, "Stay". I was totally stunned by it. Both were amazing, and I thought it was already the finals. It was the 'grammy award' performance. I was totally blown away with both of them (and I love the way Angie sang, she rocks right there).

Brilliant, wasn't it? ;-)

The result?

All 4 girls remain in their position. Yeah, there is no elimination. Hurrah! At this point, I hate to see anyone goes.

The great Fantasia from American Idol

Hey, I thought I should mention about Fantasia's performance during the result night of top 5 elimination. Watching the show's playback this morning, I had ample of time to pay attention to the whole thing after my hubby went to work (yes, he's working on Sat, too bad) and I was so intense with Fantasia's performance, I thought why didn't I notice her last night!

Her performance was awesome, she was amazing, it was hands down a powerful show, and I thought she deserves everything she has now.

Watching her makes me thought, 'another diva was born' & believe it or not, I never really knew her before that night. I knew she was from American Idol but that's just that, I never really heard any of her songs, or I might have but didn't realise it was hers. I tell you, she was amazing, and that night show, reminded me of the show Jessica Sanchez put on with Jennifer Holiday, 'and I'm telling you I'm not going'. Yes, Fantasia is as good as Jennifer Holiday, she was amazing and powerful vocally, just like Jennifer Holiday is.

Fantasia received standing ovations from all the judges, no questioned on that. I was a bit teary-eyed and filled with emotion when I watched the way she sang the song, and the way her jaw was shaking at the end of the song. It was phenomenal. All the best to you Fantasia!

American Idol 2013 - top 5 elimination

Last night the show was on in Star World channel and I got to watch just a bit of this result show. Tak dapat tengok the whole show sebab I was occupied with something else.

This week Janelle was the one eliminated. I wasn't surprised with that, as everyone knows that all the other top 4 contestants are very much stronger contenders than Janelle is. So in a way, I thought that this was really predictable.

But what surprised me was Kree being in the bottom 2. I had a chat with my mom later (my mom pun sangat suka AI & ikut this show too) and she said she wasn't surprised at all on the Kree part bcuz Kree is a country singer & nowadays people are more into modern genres. I couldn't agree more.

This proves that anybody could be in the bottom 2. Now it's down to top 4 contestants; Angie, Candice, Amber & Kree. If Kree had been in the bottom 2, I believe Angie has a bit more chance to win this after all. Bcuz I thought the show has planned for Kree to win. Let's see what happens at the end. I'm quite happy with the result this week, but being a soft-hearted person (puke) I still cried when Janelle goes.

American Idol 2013 - Divas & Song from the year you were born

I watched the show on Thursday night but updated it in my blog today, which is delayed, I know. I wanted to update it earlier but I wasn't in the mood for writing (due to my monthly period-pains,urgh) so I think u all know by now who's going out from the top 5 contestants this week.

But I'm not gonna mention it here, as this entry is an update of the performance's night. For the result, I'm gonna write it in a separate entry (so don't forget to catch my second entry :-D)

Follow the lead from the last week's performance show, there were also 2 themes for this week; 'Divas' & 'Song from the year you were born'. The 1st theme (Diva), I thought it was a cool theme & I predicted it wont be boring, given the fact that a person who deserves the 'Diva' title surely owns a famous production. So it wont be as boring as the old themes they always have every week.

And yes, I predicted right. It wasn't boring at all! I surprised myself by staying glued in front of the tv throughout the show.

Just like all my updates previously,I'm not gonna go through each contestants. I'm just gonna write about my favourites & about performances which excite me the most.

My favourite Angie sang a song from Beyonce, 'Halo' during her 1st performance. As we all know, Beyonce is such a great singer & I was quite sceptical when Angie chose her song but Angie did it justice. She always chose the right song, kudos to the amazing girl. She received standing ovations from the judges. In the second performance, she sang a song from The Pretenders, 'I'll stand by you' and dedicate it to her home, Boston. I got to shout out for this 2nd performance, cos it was so great and again, it reminded me of the night when she sang her own song 'You set me free'. Angie is so graceful in front of her piano, and I was teary-eyed throughout the performance. Again, she got standing ovations from the judges. Seriously, I strongly believe she will be the winner this season.
Angie Miller performs "Halo" by Beyonce Knowles

Candice, Kree & Janelle gave some powerful performances this week but they didn't really trigger my excitement button although they were all very awesome that night. Candice sang a song from Mariah Carey & the late Whitney Houstan, 'Miracle',ahhh, my favourite, my very favourite, childhood song. Again, I couldn't help but to be sceptical about it, cos to me, I believe (and I know most people do, too) there are no single person in this planet earth that could sing any songs own by this 2 Divas as much powerful as the way they sang. But I was quite satisfied with Candice's performance & she also deserves a spot there after tonight ( and u all know how powerful she was the week before).

Amber also sang a song from Mariah Carey, 'without you' but there were some slight difference she made from the original song which I didn't like and I couldn't help but to feel the same way like Nicki and Randy did about Amber's performance. Mariah Carey was in my head the whole time & I kept comparing Amber with the Diva. Of course no one could be at the same level with Mariah and I felt a bit of a disappointment cos I thought Amber's interpretations of that song was wrong. However, her vocal is so powerful, hands down.

Now it will be down to top 4. And the person going home this week is the person I predicted to go. Check out my next entry.

American Idol 2013 - Top 6 Elimination

I took quite some time to update on this :-P As most people know, the result always delay in Malaysia and we got to watch the result show on Fridays every week while in US people got to watch it on Thursdays. But being an IT savvy person(jangan marah), I got to know the result in advance before it was aired on Friday. What's the use of google, right? Ehehe... (IT Savvy lah sangat)

So hari Jumaat at office I pun google about the result and came to know that Lazaro Arbos was the one eliminated from the top 6, and now the top 5 semuanya perempuan, Kree, Candice, Angie, Amber & Janelle. How cool is that? Dah lama sangat perempuan tak ambil takhta sebagai winner of AI. Macam semua orang tahu, AI dah bertahun2 previously lelaki yang menang.  This time around, girls are showing their claws. GIRL POWER!

So back to Mr. Arbos. Masa dapat tahu result tu I couldn't help but to feel relief. I thought, "finally!!!" If you are my blog readers, mesti you all pun tahu I never fancy Lazaro. Tapi I never thought that his elimination will leave me crying and sobbing like nobody's business (I have a soft heart after all, puke!)

Mmg seriously, menangis 'gila' tengok dia keluar. Sedih sbb he's a very special person. But we have to admit, he is not strong enough to compete with the girls. Takpe lah, banyak orang yang best2 dah lama terkeluar pun, yang lagi best dari Lazaro pun ada (Burnell, Devin & Curtis) tapi we still managed to deal with it.

So skrg it's down to top 5. Amber was also in bottom 2 that night. Tapi I yakin it's not her turn to be eliminated this week. However, I have a strong feeling that she won't be in the final top 2 or 3, sebab Kree, Angie & Candice got a lot of voters and have never been in the bottom line ups while Amber has been there a couple of times. I predicted Janelle will be going home this week. We'll see what the America thinks.

American Idol 2013 - "A song from Burt Bacharach/Hal David" & "A song I wish I had written"

The themes for tonight were clearly written in my post title - 'A song from Burt Bacharach/Hal David' (Ok, tak pernah dengar those names, sorry!) & 'A song I wish I had written' (Yes, 2 performances each).

Honestly, I mmg x pernah dgr those 2 names. Maybe dekat Malaysia ni tak banyak pendedahan pada nama diaorang (or maybe I sendiri yang clueless). But I had the initiative to google it just now, and came to know that Burt is actually a composer & David is his lyrics writer. Together, they had both produce many hit songs all over the world.

So malam ni the first performance I tengok was from Amber, who sang 'Say a little prayer', lagu yang pernah jadi OST movie 'my best friend wedding' in year 1997 (I used to love this song so much when I was a kid). Vocal dia? Mmg mantap. The judges puji dia kaw-kaw malam ni especially Nicki Minaj.  Her 2nd performance was amazing as well. She wished she had written 'Love on top' by Beyonce & in that song, she was energetic & having fun. I admit she's an amazing singer but she's not the person I love the most in this competition (who cares what I love anyway?Hee..:D )

Lazaro malam ni dikritik teruk oleh judges. He chose to sing 'Close to you' which is a slow song & of course kalau nyanyi slow songs, vocal control kena mantap. But he remained in his low keys and it was very flat. Dah lama Lazaro patut keluar, sebab takde variety & improvement from him. Although he redeemed himself in his 2nd performance singing 'Angels' by Robbie Williams,  it wasn't strong enough to compete with the other girls. Peserta wanita tahun ni semuanya hebat2 belaka, and of course Lazaro akan ketinggalan bila dia sentiasa inconsistent.

Performances from Kree & Janelle sangat bagus tonight but I wont elaborate much on that, you guys know I hate country songs and I'm not into country singers. But hands down, Kree is awesome & such a natural born singer.

Angie's performances - I was holding back tears during her 2nd performance. It was beautiful. First song, she sang an unfamiliar song (and I'm not gonna elaborate on that) but her second one (which was also unfamiliar to me) sangat mantap. She again played her piano while singing and I was feeling the same impact I felt during her performance singing her own song 'You set me free'. It was those night again, the same feeling. It was pure beauty & a moment for her. And the prop on stage - was truly awesome, I mean the backdrop visual and all. There were white pigeons (if I'm not mistaken) scattered and flying in the backdrop visual while she was singing and Keith too, gave his praise on that part. Kudos to the producer. Angie is back again, this is the real Angie I love.

Watch the backdrop visual. Awesome..

I got to mention CANDICE CLOVER. She is amazing, and after tonight, I am also rooting for her. She is the best performer of the night, and Randy even said "The best performance of all singing competition history". Wow, how good is that? The 2nd song (1st song you need to google, sorry!)
was 'Love Song' by The Cure. Omg, this song sounded familiar to me & after googling it, I realized it was the song from the movie 50 First Dates. No wonder it was so familiar! Mmg terbaik lah this performance.

That creepy sound at 1:10 really scared me to death! What was that? Everybody talks about it in Youtube. Freaks me out big time.

This week I predict Lazaro will go out and if he doesn't, he will continue to be humiliated by the judges' critique & I pity him so much on that. Let's just wait and see.

American Idol 2013- Top 7 Elimination

The show was already on when I switched on the TV & and there was Casey James singing. He was one of previous AI's contestants. I never knew this guy before tonight, & but for some unexplainable reason, he reminded me of Daniel Johns from Silverchair. I dont fancy country singers at all, so I wasnt really into his performance.

Apart from Casey, there was also Carrie underwood. As widely known, she was also one of the previous seasons of AI's winner.

Jimmy as usual appeared on screen to give some recaps on each one of the contestants performances last night. He predicted that Burnell & Lazaro will be eliminated tonight. I disagree with his choice, at least not Burnell. It should be Lazaro & Janelle. U know why i think it won't be Burnell.

the host Ryan Seacrest then announced the top 3 of the judges choices. Keith, Nicki & Randy chose Amber, Angie & Kree as the top 3 while Mariah chose Amber, Candice & Kree. but it turned out that top 3 of America's choice are Angie, Candice & Lazaro!!!

I was very upset why Lazaro, I mean he's such a sweetheart n all but just like Jimmy said, he is not ready for this competition, talent wise. I thought he should be the earliest one to go home.

After Ryan announced the top 3, the list was followed by Kree, Candice & Amber, and that means Janelle & Burnell were in the bottom 2.

So the final result was, Burnell Taylor, yes, my favourite Burnell was the one eliminated. Even though earlier on I got to know the result already but I couldnt hold back my tears & I was crying like nobody's business. he was so so sad & it obviously showed.

So goodbye Burnell.... Now that you are gone, I have to root for Angie, and Angie alone... Hopefully She will wins.

American Idol 2013 - Classic Rock Night

Yesterday night balik2 kerja I terus masak, and I was rushing like nobody's business just to catch up with the show. As usual laa kan, mesti rushing punya semata2 nk tengok my favourite show ni ^__^

I will usually watch the 8pm show sbb I sampai rumah from office pun dah around 6pm, then I nak kena settlekan hal2 rumah such as cooking & cleaning, so mmg x sempat nak tengok the first show. So lepas masak & kemas semalam, me & hubby pun tengok sama2.

Choosing 'Classic Rock night' as their theme this week, all of the contestants performed songs from rock and roll genre. I suka genre ni sbb I mmg suka rock, but as I expected mesti dorang x pandai pilih lagu & mmg betul pun, their songs this week masih lagi lagu2 yang memboringkan except for Angie. She sang Evanescene song "Bring me to life", which is a song more modern than any of the others.. Mmmm, good choice Angie, but tu pun di kira old song jugak... Banyak lagi lagu2 fresh in the market, they all mesti choose lagu lama jugak... Ni jer yg I kurang puas hati about AI.. So, mcm biasa I wont elaborate much on each of the contestants, except for those in my favorite lists.

This week there were 2 performances each had to make. Solo & duo. So during the 1st round, Burnell Taylor sang a song from Bonjovi, "You give love a bad name", which was one of my all time favorite childhood song. To me, he delivered well & my husband too, thought it was good. But based on the judges feedback, they appeared not really satisfied with his performance & they thought Rock is not his thing at all. Well in that point I setuju sgt ngn judges sbb Burnell mmg sesuai nyanyi lagu R&B je but this week performance of his to me was amazing & not flat at all, but the media & judges told the public the other way around. Of course Burnell x boleh lawan the legendary Bonjovi but his vocals mmg terbaik & sentiasa terbaik. Kalau tengok persembahan dia malam ni mmg weird sbb dia bukan rock artist tapi kalau just listen and focus to his vocal, mmg best.

You be the judge, Was it good?

During the duo performance, Burnell was teamed up with Candice & sang a song from Joe Cockers "The Letter". Judges asek puji Candice jer, so x nampak lah macam Burnell ni shines sgt in this performance, at least to the judges perspectives. But my eyes, they were on Burnell all the time.

He's always good, hands down

And mcm biasa lepas give review pasal Burnell, I mesti akan give review pasal Angie. Heheh... diaorang 2 org je favorite I.. Yang lain sgt membosankan but I dont deny that they are all very good in what they r doing.

So Angie masa 1st round nyanyi duet with Lazaro, the famous "Crazy little thing called love" from the band Queen. Lagu ni mmg famous & mmg sedap but again, sgt lamaaaaa.... Diaorang ni suka sgt buat AI mcm cite kuno, target audience dorang macam orang tua je, sbb theme mesti bosan and classic... Jarang nk dpt tengok theme yg fresh & modern. Padahal dh banyak artis2 baru kt sana.

Angie sgt best mlm ni. Vocal dia menonjol & she was shining more than Lazaro did.

During her solo performance, Angie sang "Bring me to life" from the band Evanescence. I was finally excited dengan lagu yang modern mcm ni. Baru lah best dengar lagu2 modern. Kita ni dah zaman 2013 masih lg ker nk korek lagu2 classic setiap kali buat persembahan. Entah lah dorang ni. So anyway, Angie tak berapa best sgt lah this time. I x berapa suka. She didnt delivered it as much powerful as Amy from Evanescence did. Mcm control jer vocal dia, tak nak tarik tinggi2 & played safe. She looks like a rock chick but sorry, rock is not really her thing. Mcm judges cakap, dia sesuai nyanyi sambil main piano, as much as Im tired of hearing them said that, I kinda agree.

Mula2 dah best dah. Chorus part, nah, too safe..

Malam ni keputusan akan keluar... Cant wait! I suspected Lazaro akan keluar this time but I think Burnell pun last week at bottom 3 so Im very nervous!!

American Idol 2013-top 8 Elimination

So, today it's the result night. I managed to reach home before the show begins, thank God! And just after the show finished, I straight away grabbed my iPad to update on my blog ;-) Begitu yakin & semangat lagi I, gitu...~~~ ^_______^

The show started with the recaps of last night's performances and constructive comments from Jimmy. Kdg2 bosan jer aku tgk si Jimmy ni.. Tapi kat US, dia mmg famous & terkemuka in the music industry.

Mlm ni Jimmy predicted that this week Lazaro will be going home, after he saw the slow improvements from Lazaro. I totally agree with Jimmy. My heart goes for Lazaro but I strongly believe he doesn't got what it takes to be the winner. He is good the way he is, but those people who had earlier went home, are all better than he is. At least in my opinion.

So after the recaps there were performances from Colton Dixon and One Republic featuring Katherine Mcphee, which bored me to death. I love Colton by the way. I absolutely love the song that Angie sang on the previous shows, can't remember the title. Tapi mmg best sgt2 lagu tu. Colton ni dia bawa lagu ala2 Christianity sket, so x dpt lah nk follow dia sgt :-)

I was very excited when Ryan announced Mr Urban to performs on the stage, and I clapped my hands with excitement :-D Urban have always be my favourite artist and American Idol judge, and I couldn't help but to feel so happy to see him performs. I thought he did an awesome job! He's one of my favourite guitarist alongside Steve Vai when he plays his guitar solo. Even though I was watching it alone, I acted like I was going to faint in front of the TV. What a drama queen!

So came the results, and Kree was the first to call, and she's safe. Followed by Candice, Janelle, Angie and Amber. I thought, wow! Girl power! Looks like this year, the girls are fighting really hard to be the winner, after so long the guys stole the position.

And then there left Lazaro, Devin and Burnell as the bottom 3. I was rooting for Devin and Burnell, and I thought Lazaro should be the one who must go home. Like Mariah said, she is so nervous for the boys, and that she thought they were all great.

Finally, guess who was the one going back home? It was DEVIN VELEZ! ;-( I shouted with horror and as soon as Devin started to sing my favourite 'Sovos Novios', I cried with tears and was really hurt inside. I just couldn't accept the result. I got more in pain when I saw Mariah cried & Randy told Ryan that the decision wasn't unanimous. They decided not to use the one and only SAFE to keep Devin from going home :-(

And then Ryan announced on the video flash back of Devin's past and like the sweetheart he is, he started to shed some tears. I was crying like nobody's business. I thought Lazaro should go home, I really cant understand.....

American Idol 2013 - Music from Detroit

Last night I was stuck in the traffic jam & was rushing to reach home just to watch the show. I finally reached  home but the show was already started half way. I knew it was gonna replay again at 8pm but I was planning not to watch it if it didn't excite me. Seriously x best nk tengok show diaorang kalau membosankan..

Last night show bored me to death. I kept hoping for songs from the new era and something fresh in the market, like the ones we always saw in 'Glee'. Lagu2 baru, kan banyak artis kat US tu... Mesti dorang nk pilih lagu2 lama jugak... Mmmm... AI themes are always boring & old. So I decided that Im gonna watch the rest of the show but not gonna bother to catch up with 8pm replay.

So after googling some info just now, I got to know that last night was about music from Detroit; they need to choose a song from Detroit-area greats including Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder. It made sense why I kept listening to Stevie's songs last night. I thought it was his theme, but then I hear other songs too from other singers.

Apart from the solo performances, there was also some group performances. But I thought the solos were better. Dalam group susah nk jangka, org yg selama ni best akan tenggelam bila ada org yg lg best. & judges pun slalu nak compare je antara diaorang.

Joining Jimmy this week was Smokey Robinson as their mentor. Smokey were there to give good advices to the contestants and monitor their preparations in the studio.

As I switched on the TV, it was already came to the duo performances of Janelle & Kree. Nicki & Randy thought that Kree was doing better than Janelle. Well obviously I thought the same too. But I couldn't help but to feel sympathy towards Janelle after Nicki gave some harsh feedback like, "You know how I much love you Janelle, but Kree flew in and made it look like she was performing a song with an idol contestant.”

For the first time ever, I wanted Janelle to prove the judges wrong. And she definitely redeems herself back in her solo performance that night. She played the guitar which was awesome and her singing was effortless. I kinda proud of her that night although she is still not my favourite.

Hey do you think she looks a bit like Katherine Heigl? ;-)

I had missed the earlier show and I hope you guys can catch up with it in google just like I did, as Im not gonna elaborate on that. I don't really fancy all of them, I'm just catching up with my favourites. And throughout the show this night, I only watched Burnell's, Angie's & Janelle's performances, while the rest I just passed through.

Lazaro was next to perform after the duo performance of Janelle & Kree, and I thought he still does not shine up to my expectation. I really don't have any idea when America will change their minds.

The next performance I watch that night was from the trio, Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb & Candice Glover. To me, that was awesome. They sang “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me” and they received standing ovations from the judges. I love the fact that each one of them is unique in their own ways & all of them were heard in this performance.

I saw something different with Angie that night. She looks like she wanna show some sexiness & prove something else about herself. I love her the way she is and I love the rock chick image she possesses all the while & hate to see her transforms like this. But her vocal, hands down, is over the top. Her solo performance singing "To Shop Around" was highly critique by the judges in not-so-positive ways though. I thought it was the worst performance she ever does too. To me, she suddenly looks like she lost her identity. I love it when she sticks into her soulful music. I kinda agree with Minaj's critique, "You need to stop and enjoy that people are loving what you’re doing,” instead of trying to act overtly sexy and have fun. “If your thing is not R&B and bluesy switch it up and do what you shine at…don’t come out here and try to give us another side…we didn’t ask for another side yet,” Minaj spouted and then flipped her hair and turned away.

Burnell's performance last night was the last performance I watched. It was again reaching my expectation & never fail to impress me. He sang Stevie's song "My Cherie Armour". I thought it was amazing again but I noticed that he kept on pronounce some words by adding an 'M' behind them such as "Armourm"and "werem" when they were supposed to be "Armour" & "Were". But ignoring that, it was the best that night, at least in my opinion. Tonight is gonna be the result night leading to top 7. Hope Im not gonna stuck in the traffic jam again.

American Idol 2013 - "The Beatles" & Elimination

It was "The Beatles" Theme night where all the top 9 contestants made their own choices of songs from this band. The show chose the theme, the contestants chose the songs- u got the picture.

I thought this theme would bored me & I thought they should have give this kids some themes from the new era. Those musics which are fresh and new in the market.

But then after I saw their performances, I was quite satisfied with it. They delivered those beautiful and recognizable songs successfully and did the songs justice. And I kinda thought that this was the week where they were all able to deliver strong live vocals. It was very impressive, with the exception of one or two.

I'm not gonna go through each performances - I find it very difficult to stay excited with all of the contestants, except only for my favourites. So Im just gonna write the songs each sang that night.

1. Kree Harrison:- “A Little Help From My Friends”
2. Burnell Taylor:- “Let It Be”
3. Amber Holcomb:- “She’s Leaving Home”
4. Lazaro Arbos:- “In My Life”
5. Candice Glover:- “Come Together”
6. Paul Jolley:- “Eleanor Rigby”
7. Angie Miller:- “Yesterday”
8. Devin Velez:- “The Long And Winding Road”
9. Janelle Arthur:- “I Will”

My favourite that night were from Burnell and Angie. I thought their performances were superb and they delivered such powerful vocals. Burnell are so unique and original, he has the ability to turn someone else's song to become like his own child.
And Angie, I love the fact that she looks like a rock chick & dresses in black in all of her performances and that she adores PARAMORE; that's just add some more flavors. She is able to sing any songs & make them into soul music. They are both simply unique.

Burnell Taylor's performance:-

For some reason I dont know how come I couldnt upload Angie's youtube video performance for this night :-( Check out the youtube and look for it okay!

So during the elimination, Amber Holcomb, Devin Velez & Paul Jolley were named the bottom 3.
I disagree that Devin should be in the bottom 3 but it's America's votes, so I couldnt say anything about that. Maybe we could change something if it is the judges votes.

Paul Jolley was eliminated that night. I sighed with huge relief. I dont think he deserves a spot in AI. Ouch, sorry Paul. I think AI is dying for strong contenders vocally and I dont think you have what it takes.

I am rooting for Burnell & Angie! <3

American Idol ~ Top 10; Elimination

Last week Friday was the result for the other night's show.
I waited in front of the TV for the result & was even willing to put aside all my chores just to catch up with the result.
It turned out that the result really disappoint me, it made me frustrated!

So who's going back? C.U.R.T.I.S FINCH JR!!!! arghhhhh Nooooo :(((

I cannot believe it... Come on America...

I dont have anything much more to say, but I am very disappointed. And the fact that the judges didnt wanna use their one and only chance to retain an eliminated contestant, really pissed me off to death :(( I mean, they have always rooting for Curtis, always counting on him, saying he's the best contestant in this competition and all, but at the end when he goes, the judges didnt do anything about it. Nicki was obviously disappointed with the decision too. She said, with the insufficient time to discuss, she really couldnt do anything to make a difference.

I was all teared up and emotional. To me, Curtis deserves to stay more than Lazaro, Paul or Janelle does. But somehow this is still a reality show and this thing happens. At the end of the day it is up to America to vote & whoever is favorable will win despite of anything.

Youtube Recap of the show, Elimination night for the top 10 finalists

So Goodbye Curtis :-(

American Idol 2013 - Songs from American Idols

So yesterday night the show was on TV and I watched it with hubby.
Overall their performances were satisfactory, apart from 1 or 2 exceptions. I was impressed with certain performances and most of them aren't fall into my list of favourites. My favourites on the other hand, didnt manage to pull off great performances although they were doing just fine.

So here's the recap:-

1) Nicki Minaj wasnt there during the 1st judging. She arrived late and Ryan had to cover her up
2) The Theme for the night was "Songs from American Idols" - Singing any songs from former contestants in American Idols, be it their own song or other singer's songs but were performed by them.
3) Jimmie Lavine is mentoring the contestants this week
4) Curtis Finch Jr - He did Fantasia's "I Believe". It was not his best performance & I saw some better ones before. To me it was just an okay performance
5) Janelle Arthur - She chose "Gone" which was performed by Scotty before. It was an energetic performance from her but I'm sorry, I think you are very much aware that I dont fancy her at all. After Kree, I dont think no one else could be at the same level.
6) Devin Velez - He sang "Temporary Home", a song performed by Carrie Underwood. It was beautiful but I thought it didn't really challenge his vocals and tones. Like Randy said it was very safe & I couldnt agree more
7) Angie Miller - Chose to sing "I surrender" which was formerly sang by Kelly Clarkson. I thought it was a brilliant choice of song. There was so much power in her performance, be it her voice, appearance or her confidence. Keith looked very proud. I thought it second best performance of hers after "You Set Me Free". She definitely has to stay
8) Paul Jolley - Sang "Amazed" by Scotty. The judges thought he did amazing. Nicki said, Paul tonight is able to stimulate her sexual appetite, referring to his appearance and outfits. I thought he is doing fine but never outstanding
9) Candice Glover - She performed "I Who Have Nothing" which formerly sang by Jordin Sparks & I thought it was the best performance of the night. She delivered such a powerful voice and it went over the top. It was a winning performance.
10) Lazaro Arbos - Performed "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson & I thought it was just an okay performance.
11) Kree Harrison - Chose "Crying" which was performed by Carrie Underwood formerly. The song is simple & not really challenging but I thought her voice is very beautiful
12) Burnell Taylor - Did his own thing in "Flying Without Wings", which was formerly sang by Ruben Studdard. It was brilliant, with those hand gestures and his own original thing. He totally changed the song in his own way
13) Amber Holcomb - The last performance of the night & she chose "A moment like this" by Kelly Clarkson. It was amazingly beautiful & powerful, the song challenged her voice and she delivered it outstandingly. Mariah just said, "Hashtag, Pow", whatever that means. It was perfect.

Tonight I will get to see the result. Can't wait! :-)

Below are the videos of my favourite performances tonight:-

Candice with "I, Who Have Nothing"

Angie Miller with "I Surrender"

And Amber with "A Moment Like This"

American Idol 2013 ~ Semifinal result!!!!

Today I got some spare time to update on this. Honestly guys, I didnt watch the girls part for the semifinals at all! I just couldnt bring myself to watch them due to the sudden change of my interest - I am attached to the guy contestants now! Just forget about my previous post, it's no longer applicable. Haha... So if you wish to know about the girl's part, look it up on GOOGLE :-p I'm sorry...

So tonight I watched the semifinal result & was very satisfied with the outcome, except for 1 or 2 disagreement. Before I proceed further let's see the result below:-

1) Start with the Top Left - Lazaro Arbos; It came as a surprised for me. No doubt he is a good singer but I thought it would be hard for him to get the place since there are so many other contestants whose voices are much stronger than his. Nevertheless I am glad America chose him. There is more to his voice that I wish to hear. He seems to be in the favor of Mariah, she adores his voice's lower tone.

2) Next - Amber; I love her attitude. She is such a down-to-earth person and she's so sweet. Such attitude will win people's heart. Talent wise, her voice is quite strong, although not as strong as other semifinalists. To me, it all comes down to the right choices of songs. I am happy for her. My mom thinks she's fantastic.

3) Next - Paul Jolley; I don't really fancy him, as I told you a million times. He doesn't have that 'X-factor' in him, so I guess he will be invisible in my view. Sorry! But I know, he is such a sweetheart- great attitude, humble and all.

4) Next - Curtis Finch Jr; See, I told you! He will go through to the next round or even win this:-) I am so glad to know that America thinks the same as I do!

5) Top Right (Standing)- Janelle Arthur; I don't agree at all. Everything about her screams boring. She has a very strong voice suits for country songs but I don't think it's too marketable. There are already too many similar voices like hers out there.

6) Below left- Candice Glover; Powerful voice. Very happy to see her get in!

7) Next - Angie Miller; Yay! You know I love her eversince "You set me free". I am so happy that she gets in. She might be the next AI for this season! (Keith even teared up)

8) Next - Burnell Taylor; Oh God. I'm glad he's in. I am obsess with him, everything about him is just so original.

9) Next - Devin Velez; Again, my favourite is in. Such a perfect result.

10) The last one, Below right (Sitting) - Kree Harrison; I was surprised America voted for 2 country singers but I am glad she gets in, she deserves the spot.

I am so satisfied with the results, all my favourites are in! Angie, Burnell, Devin & Curtis!!!

American Idol 2013 ~ Semifinals Top 10 guys

First of all, you might notice that I skipped writing on 'Sudden Death' round for guys part 2. Reason being, I am not interested to update on that.. This year, I am far more interested in female contestants than I am in the guys. However, there are 3 guy contestants who I think are strong contenders in this competition; Devin Velez, Curtis Finch Jr & Burnell Taylor.

Last week's sudden death round for guys were so boring, I didnt even finish watching the show.

Tonight, I was very surprised that the show has already got to the guys semifinal. I thought girls should always take the turn first. And I was very upset to realise that I'd missed the girls part, it was on the show yesterday 6th March! (In Malaysia the show will be aired fresh every Thursdays & Fridays, so the girl's part was on Wednesday - I know in US it was on Tuesday)

Before I go further, let's find out who stays during the sudden death round for guys part 2 -

1) Vincent Powel (If given a good song that match with his voice, he could be among the best)
2) Nick Boddington (boring)
3) Burnell Taylor
4) Lazaro Arbos
5) Cortez Shaw

My favorite in the list above would be Burnell Taylor. I've always rooting for him to go through every stages. He has such an incredible talent and it's so original. His voice, his signature way of singing - hand movements, facial expressions and tones, are absolutely flawless.

I need some time to catch up with the semifinals girl part in Youtube before I update about it, so let's continue with semifinals guys first.

So Here's a recap on Guys Semifinals:-

Elijah Liu - He chose to sing "Stay" by Rihanna. I thought it didn't challenge his vocal, and it made him sounds flat. To me, his voice is easily recognizable, which is good for him, but some where in there, it is lack of effort. He is playing safe with the competition and I've never seen him doing an outstanding performance, not even once.

It was definitely better than the sudden death round, but to me, it was still nothing special. It is such a beautiful song & this was such a great opportunity for him to play with his vocal but he chose to sing it this way, which was plain and easy.

Cortez Shaw - He got a good vocal but tonight I thought he was overdoing the song that he chose - "Lock Out of Heaven" By Bruno Mars. The song's beats are very catchy, and of course, he started to dance and move his body but they didn't look right, like he was overdoing everything, including the vocal towards the end of the song. The song that is supposed to be catchy is turning to be an R&B song the way he sang it. He didn't do justice to Bruno Mars, sorry :-(

Charlie Askew -I dont even know how to comment about him. I think you guys are aware that I don't fancy him at all. To me, his karaoke&theater-like performance will always be shaky and unconvincing. The way I see it, he is an attention-seeker. And with his weak performance singing"Mama", I don't think he can survive any longer in this competition. In theater show, yes, he could aced it.

Nick Boddington - Chose a very beautiful song, which is my all-time favorite, "Iris" By Goo-goo dolls. Did he realized that Goo-goo dolls has 1Million times nicer vocal than him? Just saying... :-)
So it was brave of him to choose this song. I just can't comment on his performance cos nobody could compete Goo-goo dolls in this. Although he sounds nice but it was a bit boring & after he shaved his head, he reminds me of the gay Lance Bass of Nsync... His boy band-like appearance and vocal, are one of those which wont leave much of an impact to the audience. Let's see if I'm wrong.

Burnell Taylor - He sang the same song which he performed during the audition which was "I'm Here", it was brilliant. Like I said, I opt for him to win, apart from Angie Miller and Devin Velez.
(Kree now is no longer my favorite) All the things about him just scream original. I am impressed a lot that he lost many weights and I love the new him wayyyy better. My heart goes for him for no reason, I just feel like he's so serious to win this competition.

Paul Jolley - He is good vocally, his appearance is quite pleasant, but I dont know why I am not really attracted to him. To me, he doesn't have that 'X-factor' in him.. But I dont know if Im wrong. Let's just see. (To be honest, I didnt watch his performance last night and just watch it now for the sake of updating this episode.. HEHEHE)

Lazaro Arbos - He really impresses me every time he sings. He doesn't stutter at all when he sings, it is so beautiful to watch such talent. He is so adorable and vocally, he is quite good. Although he has a good talent, to me, there are many other contestants who are much stronger than him... Let's see what America thinks. Last night he sang my favorite "Feeling Good" By Michael Buble and I thought it was beautiful, although he could do much better. He deserves a chance to show more of him.
Curtis Finch Jr - Sang "I believe I can fly" By R.Kelly. It was beyond amazing. Like I said, he should made a record by now. He doesnt need American Idol.... Are you with me now? ;-)

Devin Velez - He chose to sing 'It's impossible' (Somos Novios), a mixture of English & Spanish song. It was really incredible, I keep on playing the song over and over again every day. His vocal is beyond amazing. Like the previous performance singing "Listen" By Beyonce in a mixture of English & Spanish, he pulled it off again tonight. Like Nicki Minaj said, he should stay doing what he's doing now, and I totally agree with her. I teared up listening to this... Pure perfection....

Vincent Powel - He got a strong vocal, but I dont really fancy him. I didnt watch the performance, sorry :( Although he got a good voice, to me, he is easily forgettable. Sorry Vincent's fans,. I am being honest...

Tomorrow, we will got to know the result... I'll definitely update about it later! I am rooting for Burnell Taylor, Devin Velez, Curtis Finch Jr and Angie Miller. I hope either 1 of this contestant will win the competition.
